Description: Fragmentierte spätparthische Terrakotte in Form eines Reiters. Sie kann als Votivgabe oder Bestandteil eines Grabinventars gedient haben. Der auf einem Pferdchen aufgesetzte Oberkörper mit ehemals fein modelliertem Gesicht mit noch erkennbarer Augenpartie, einer aufgestellten, einer phrygischen Mütze ähnlichen Kopfbedeckung oder Spitzmütze und von den Schultern herabhängenden, die Arme akzentuierenden Gewandfalten wurde in einem Model hergestellt. Das Pferd ist dagegen aus einem Tonwulst mit stämmigen Beinen frei geformt. Die Schnauze schmiegt sich eng an den Hals, der Kamm ist hoch aufgestellt. Die Körper der Figuren sind mit groben Fingerkniffen an einander gesetzt, beim oxidierenden Brand entstanden in diesem Bereich Schwundrisse im Material. Der Reiter wurde im Rahmen der Ktesiphon-Grabungen im Süden des Qasr bint al-Qadi bei der Anlage eines langen Schnittes durch das nördliche Ende einer Landzunge im Schutt des südlichen Schnittbereichs geborgen.

Description: Fragmented late-Parthian terracotta in the form of a rider. It may have served as a votive offering or part of a funeral inventory. The upper part of the body, formerly finely modeled on a horse, with an identifiable eye area, a Phrygian cap-like headgear or peaked cap, and draped shoulders accentuating the arms, was made in a model. The horse, on the other hand, is freely formed from a clay bulge with sturdy legs. The snout nestles close to the neck, the crest is high. The bodies of the figures are set with coarse fingertips on each other, the oxidizing fire caused shrinkage cracks in this area in the material. The horseman was recovered during the Ctesiphon excavations in the south of the Qasr bint al-Qadi by making a long cut through the northern end of a promontory in the rubble of the southern intersection.
