Painting (watercolour). Folio 59 from an album showing Turkish costume. Tatar han, a government courier, in ceremonial costume. Wearing a red kaftan with brown fur collar and edging and a green robe. Flat green hat (tatar kalpaği) with a broad brown fur brim and two stiff aigrettes. Wearing an ornate bowcase, he has a dagger in his gold belt and is holding a scabbarded sword.
