Riciâl-i Davlet-i Aliyye Mehterbaşisı

Mehterhane, which is a militaryband, consists of zurna, nakkare, trumpet, cymbal, drum and kosten. The chief of this team was called mehterbaşi. The team was under the supervision of the amir-i alemin and all appointments were made with his permission. Mehterbaşi is the name given to the chief commander of two separate classes, the palace musicians and the palace tent makers.
