Throughout the Shahnameh, Iranians and Turanians are embroiled in long-lasting battles. This image shows a single combat between the Iranian warrior Furuhil and his Turanian opponent, Zangula. Furuhil has shot an arrow at Zangula, who turns around and takes aim with his bow. Furuhil’s arrow pins his enemy's leg to his horse’s side, causing Zangula to fall off and die.
