The battle scene is carved below the Tomb of Darius II. The carving is 7.6 meters wide and about 3 meters in height. It shows the mounted king charging and spearing the neck of the enemy horseman. The history of this scene and the identity of the victorious king is not clear, but Henning and Schmidt regard it as of the Shapur II era, since, although the shape of the king's crown is damaged, its components can still be recognized, and its similarity to Shapur II is not deniable.
