      The main point is that the lily (trefoil) ornament is characteristic of Georgian military equipment as well. For instance, such is St Demetrius' quilted armour with lilies on the l2th-l3th-c. icon of Lahili (fig. 18). The decoration of the band on the Warrior Saint's shield with lilies on the 12th-c. fresco of Pavnisi is also of considerable interest.
