from the Khamsa of Amir Khusraw Dihlavi

This illustration from Walters manuscript W.624 depicts one of the many battles fought by Alexander the Great, who is celebrated in the Islamic tradition as one of the great historic rulers. The painting is inscribed Jagannath in red ink.
