The flight of Baz Bahadur, ruler of Malwa in north central India, after his defeat by the Mughals under Adham Khan in 1561. In the illustration at left: His wife, Rupmati, and her female companions may also been seen on the terrace of the fort. In the illustration at right: In the foreground, soldiers fight; in the background is the fort of Malwa, with the Hindu ladies of the household shown at top right. The artist responsible for the compositions was the court artist Jagan. V & A Museum.
