Persons who were members of the novice camp were called bag boys or şadi because their names were written in a notebook kept inside the bag. They are dressed in green caftans and with a red belt. They are the messenger soldiers of the Novice Corps, who trained soldiers for the Janissary Corps, and the people who walk as protectors on both sides of the horse that the grand viziers ride on.
