'The fashion for boots had already traveled as far as China by the sixth century A.D. and is seen on a Northern Ch'i platform in the Freer Gallery in Washington, D.C. On the stone relief where influence from Iran, India and Central Asia are found side by side, the guardians standing on lions and the tiny musicians in pearl roundels wear Central Asian boots.'
