Baṣ-Eski or Baṣ-Karakullukçu was a title given to the oldest of the Orta. The holder enjoyed great consideration and influence in the Orta, and, according to Marsigli, it was up to him to carry the standard.
It was the Baṣ-Eskilers who had the command of the Kara-Kols or guardhouses of the capital, and hence their name of Baṣ-Karakullukçu.
kullukçu = servant (plural -lar)
